Hello all,I have recently just purchased my first Lotus, it's a 94' S4 with 8K miles. Mods so far are, aftermarket pilar mounted mirrors, V8 wheel arches, lowered suspension, BOV, High torque chip from P.U.K., braided steel clutch line.
My question; is it normal for the turbo and exhaust manifold to be glowing hot after cruising normally for 30 min.? I just got home from a freinds house after driving down the interstate at about 70-75 mph, got off the highway and drove normally the next mile to my home, pulled into the garage, let the car idle for a minute and shut it down. I then opened the rear hatch and removed the engine cover( I do this to help let the heat vent out), this is where I noticed that the manifold and turbo housing were glowing in the dark (and I don't mean a little), not as red hot as I'd imagine it could be but hot enough.
What do you guy's think?

Hi,it`s normal.Be careful and don`t stop your engine after you`ve driven your Esprit very fast.Give your turbo and your manifold time to cool down.I`ve measured the temperature of turbo and manifold(between 950-1100 degrees celsius).
It needs about 10 minutes to stop glowing(i`ve stopped the time),but turbo and manifold are still very hot(about 500 degrees celsius)
You may have to install a turbo timer.
