...and BW.

Really been bored with all photography lately and couldn't be arsed with it. Enjoy portraits but its the mundane and I'm not able to do my artistic stuff I used to. Then I noticed a shed load of oil on my sensor so that prompted an e2 clean.

To test that the dust had gone I decided to go out to the local park and take a few shots as I'm working on a project of documenting every area of the town.

This is Lydiard house just outside Swindon, cc welcomed

Really striking shots. Like that the house is relatively small in the frame but still manages to impose. Trees make their presence felt, too.

As you move around town, be sure to stick a fisheye in the middle of the Magic Roundabout wink

That's superb! I love B&W phototgraphy. Would you mind sharing what settings you were using?

Shot RAW which will upset some wink Simple quick change to bw by using channel mixer, set to mono and use a 100% red (same as using a red filter on film) then adjust the levels slightly

heres the original

I like them but the leaning tree distracts me - I'd want to correct the converging verticals somewhat.

Tree doesn't bother me in the top one, but does in the second one. Nice though.

Some of my B&W efforts HERE

Love the 'portrait' format, and it looks so much better in B&W than the colour version.

Sorry to be ignorant, but what's an e2 clean??

just a chemical wipe for the sensor. 5d's are notorious for chamber oil and I'd contaminated the sensor when I used a brush. e2 is the compatible chemical for ito sensors

bow I especially like no.3 on that page - quite a Colin McCahon look (painter rather than photographer though)

Thanks Ben... Funnily enough, I have quite a lot of paintings on my walls that look like a photographer took them (how stupid am I?)

hehe You might like Graham Sydney's work in that case - http://www.grahamesydney.com/

Apologies for the thread drift, used to paint before deciding I didn't have time and getting a camera instead

I thought the same. The last shot you've posted is nice and moody - pity the whole house isn't lit up though.

Really, I thought you were doing your shooting from the hip photography? How did it go?
