Hi everyone.... could anybody please help???? My oil pressure gauge seems to be playing up and not sure why.... The symptoms are as follows.... When started and idling the pressue on the gauge shows around 30 but as soon as you rev. the engine the needle shoots up and past the max pressure on the gauge???? Please help if you have any ideas.... thanks in advance.

Possibly a faulty sender unit, or more likely a chafed wire connected to it that shorts as the engine moves under torque.

The wire to the sender is quite thick and if cable tied to tightly to the chassis it will cause the male terminal in the sender to come loose with engine rocking . You need a TVR sender not land rover as the gauge will read wrong with a LR unit . They are about £50 for TVR item .
If you earth the wire on the car somewhere you will see that gauge will go to max if its the gauge is o.k.
