Great to see Ferrari TR 0704 (ex Phil Hill / Peter Collins, then Henry Ford collection - totally unrestored and magnificent)at last week's Goodwood Festival Press launch (Lewis Hamilton's Father in the passenger seat), plus Dougie Lampkin getting dangerously close to a GT40.....

Wow, some fantastic shots there!

So to get the blurry background surely you are moving also?

James.

No, thats known as a 'panning' shot - standing still, but pivotting the top half of the body in a smooth motion, usually at 1/125th shutter speed.

how the hell do you get these shots so sharp? are you manually focussing on a point? i was trying at the weekent, and maybe 1 in four came out anywhere near right, the rest just a blurry mess with AF on. (im using either a nikon d100 or fuji s2 pro depending on the day)

Would really appreciate some advice on how you get it so 'right'

Cheers

Here's another - this is always a good spot to be in order to get dramatic shots off the Start line...

Agree, but........any chance of just a brief insight into how you generally work with your focusing?

i am always experimenting, but have not come up with a winning answer yet. dammit!
