Hellp needed please - Anyone with a lovely classic Jag ?
Discussion
This is a generic post and one I am making on a variety of different forums (that I either post or have lurked on due to a mutual shared interest and appreciation of fine cars).
Our eldest daughter, (15 but very sensible), has her end of school summer prom, (ticket only event), on 27/6/08.
She would love to be able to arrive in class & style with just one sensible guest. My daughter and her guest may have a glass of wine at home before the off but I 100% assure that they will be entirely sober and will only conduct themselves entirely appropriately.
I had hoped to secure a colleagues classic Jag 420 but he is commited that evening. I also had plans to secure a Rolls Royce Phantom but that has sadly not come about.
The requirement on the early evening concerned would be to drive my daughter & her chaparone / date from out home near Chichester just 35 mins to Fontwell Racecourse West Sussex for arrival only at 6.15 pm - thats it !
We dont really want to do the cliche'd thing with the tacky white stretched battered limo at driven by someone of unsavoury character & only to end up paying top dollar for that sub standard 35 minute experience !
Alternatively & in the remote likelihood someone would entrust me to drive their pride and joy I can guarantee any suitable car would be treated with extreme care with me prepared to pay for any additional insurance and accept full excess laibilities to cover any extremely unliklely event. I could drive to you and leave my BMW X5 with you if so required for use in my absence. ( I have full NCD am 40yrs old and have passed my advanced driving exam and attended other driving courses/experiences)
My daughter really appreciates classic post war cars from late 50's & 60's and is a big fan of the S type Jaguars and Mk2 (Morse) Jags of that era. That said I am sure she will carefully consider any alternatives and including more recent motor cars that have that something special & which may also be suitable for the occasion.
More than happy to make a return gesture or maybe a kindly gesture such a few bottles of champagne etc for anyones trouble plus adequate fuel costs to cover the trip to our home and to the venue on the special evening.
Only posting this on the off chance but would sincerely appreciate anyone with a lovely car contacting me if they feel they would be prepared to make the kind effort to hopefully help my daughter and her guest have a lovely evening. I assure anyone reading this that there would be a genuine appreciation should approproiate transport be secured & kind effort made.
Without wishing to be ungrateful I have no idea what response if any I will get so please could you contact me via pm or email ( if you happen to know me and have that info). In the event that I get more than one response I shall inform my daughter of what is on offer and allow her to decide. I suspect that travel distance and logistics might also be relavant factors.
I hope my cheeky approach does not cause any offence - Please be assured I'm not some pikey begging in the street & hope I come across as a decent guy whose daughter appreciates fine cars and other peoples kindness.
Please consider mentioning this to others if you feel unable to assist
Kind Regards & Thanks in advance

Sorry I'm not in the right area.
I've a friend, also not in the right area, who runs a wedding car hire business using a fleet of old Jaguars (Mk5, Mk8, Mk2s S-type). I get the impression that this seems to be a growing area of business. You could always have a look and see if there is someone in your vicinity.

I might have to try to get special quotes. Most sites show price examples for a whole day. Travel to me aside the car is only needed for 35 mins(tops).
I'm posting on here and on other boards which will include jag forums. If no joy then will also try various service providers.
If you do here of anyone in my area that posts on here and may be able to help then please let me know. There is a duplicate thread running in the other section with the ususla banter type comments but no offers as yet.
