Adjusting handbrake
Discussion
If it's the same as mine (88 X180) then you have 2 choices. Firstly, move the drives seat fully forward and stick your head behind it. If you look at the inside of the sill there is a bit of carpet you can raise onthe vertical section and behind this are the 2 handbrake adjuster cables. Second option is to just get them replaced if they have stretched too much to matter. SJ Sportscars sell the cable for about £70 or so for the pair. HTH.

Hi,
The handbrake is self-adjusting to a point. How are your rear brake pads? Do they need replacing? As previously mentioned, the cable can be tightened from the cockpit. But, I suspect yopu have pads which are pretty close to being replaced and this will effect the efficiency of the handbrake. Happy Motoring! Jim'85TE

When I got my car the handbrake was hopeless. Teeth were broken off one of the racks attached to the back of the piston. This required a new piston.
Probably caused by someone replacing the pads and not turning the piston 45deg to release the auto adjust ratchet mechanism to allow the piston to be pushed back.
