Hoping to return to the UK later this year after 2 years stuck in the USA. I can't afford to replace my beloved Boxster 3.2 S, but could probably afford an older Griffith.

However, I'm somewhat concerned that - with the demise of TVR - I could be letting myself in for problems getting hold of parts. I write this because I was looking at a non-PAS car with the serpentine engine and T5 box and thinking that converting to PAS wouldn't be a big problem - until I discovered that the TVR power rack is no longer available . . . .

So, what about other parts - or are TVR owners doomed to finding wrecked cars to cannibalise for parts ?

raceproved are going to be making power racks for TVRs and it's designed that it would fit into any tvr .. including griff chime, cerb, tuscan even the S series could have a power rack! pre production versions are already made.

how does the cost compare against refurbing an existing one? and for me that has a leaking existing rack, should I refurb or replace?

Refurb is usually the way to go. Costs around £200 ish. Lot cheaper than a new rack.

I kinda imagined that refurb was the cheaper, just wondering if there was any benefit to fitting new and shiny?

On the whole availability is pretty good, as people who used to work at the factory have since started their own businesses and most parts can be sourced of even made if required.

Its not a concern of mine I have to say with my griff

Get stuck in

Practically everything is available, or can be made.

When a part is no longer available someone comes up with a solution that is usually better than the original.

It just gives you an excuse to tune it.

The rack is one of the very few parts of a Griff which isn't readily obtainable from an alternative source. Almost everything else is available from another car, easily fabricated or generically available. Don't worry - Griffs are surprisingly cost-effective and easy to maintain if you chase the parts sources.

Agree the only bit that can be astruggle to get hold of..but many refurb unless FUBAR... But with what Jools is saying then there looks like the ony difficult part to get hold wont be for long..

Buy and Enjoy and theres many a part company out there and if you do get stuck then ask and i am sure one of us will point you in the right direction.

Good Luck
