The recent Miura 'looky-likey' car will not now be built - it was only ever one of Lamborghini's idea-prototype-cars and was never likely to make it into production.

imho, I don't think Lamborghini should have been heading down the road of building 'retro' cars, especially retro Miuras. Thankfully it now looks like they never will, so yee- and indeed hee- hah!

That wheel as fitted to that Espada is a Campagnola unit. They were usually supplied with knock-off hub nuts, but not in this case. They were used on a number of different Lamborghinis - including the later Isleros, all the Miuras, the Espadas until the last of the Series II cars and the Jarama. In later years they were replaced on the final series of the Espada and the Jarama S by the 5-bolt wheels, also Campagnola units. (see my profile pic for the 5-bolt wheels on my Jarama S)

In most cases, especially from new, these knock-off wheels signalled that the wheel hubs themselves would need rebuilding every 5,000 kilometres as the hubs were devoid of grease nipples... These days (and presumably also then!) they could be fitted with the lube access points as that kind of regular maintenance work is either very expensive to pay for or very labour intensive to do, if you do your own maintenance.

So, you own a Jalpa you say? Have you thought about joining Lamborghini Club UK?

See www.lamborghiniclub.co.uk - you can now join online using PayPal or you can contact our Membership secretary - you'll be very welcome!

It is always a bright day when I can freely use the words 'grease' and 'nipples' in the same sentence: thank you for the opportunity!

Thanks for that info and the offer of joining your club. I am not really car club person. Like dropping in and out. Not saying it about your club, but in past found some clubs a bit claustrophobic, in sense people get a bit anorak about stuff and it can end up not about the cars and just having fun.
this forum is new to me, i quite like the informal nature of it.
thanks for your knowledge on the wheels.
i saw the muira at goodwood the other year. I liked the look of it. Still wouldnt be surprised if it did make a debut, we have the challenger, thunderbird, mustang and charger interpretations. But i suppose given how the world economy is looking. I imagine some 'projects' might be on hold anyway.
Ha what a bright note to end on!

John,

LCUK gets very political and cramped sometimes. Some of the Club's Members have to be that way some times (in the careful organising of things) but I'm happy to say that we only do that a little bit, in between having a laugh and bazzin' about in our cars...

See that 35 year old car of mine, that's just been brought out of a winter garage and, deedaaaaaa, it started first time... it was then driven happily along for some time with only the 'pop' from using tired old fuel to show for its hibernation. Shame I have to keep it over 200 miles away from me but its in the good hands of the Club's chairman who finds time to drive the car when I can't and when he's not too busy fettling one or other of his Espadas (Espadæ?) and his Urraco or driving a Diablo SV that he also looks after...

Just 7 miles from me in sunny (really!), rural (yes, still really!) Lancashire is a Countach with sod-all miles on the clock. Can you feel the slight vibration that is caused by that car never being used (ie, 20 years old, still less than 3,000 miles on it...) ????

That's caused by Ferruccio Lamborghini spinning so violently in his grave that the earth judders in unison with him.

LCUK / Lamborghinis / fun - are words/acronyms that have a common meaning almost all the time!
