Wish Id bought a silver one now!

How do I stop swirl marks re-appearing having had it detailed a short while ago (5weeks). I currently use a bucket with a grit guard at the bottom and a sheepskin mit to wash it with. I always jet (hosepipe) the car off first then mit wash it then wipe dry with a microfibre towel but I still get some very very fine scratches that you can see in certain light.

Is this something I am going to have to live with and simply de-swirl every few moths or can I re-wax weekly to help build up a layer to protect it (Do Do wax possibly....?

Note I only have one micro fibre towel at the moment as new to the game.

you will always get some. it can't be helped especially with black. do you use 2 buckets or just the one? also is the microfibre a drying towel or just a microfibre?

to minimise the risk of swirls. use the 2 bucket mthod and only work in straight lines. try cleaning the mitt out after each pass of the painwork. start at the top and work down. use a seperate mitt for the bottom portion of the car. ie from the height of the top of the wheels down.

chances are the marks are coming from when you dry the car. best bet here is to use a leaf blower to dry the car rather than a drying towel. if you don't want to appear mad to your neighbours then pat dry the car rather than wiping with the drying towel.

to hide any marks you may have inflicted, invest is a good quality glaze as well as a wax. This will help to fill the swirls and minimise their appearance.

I will get another bucket at the weekend as only the one at the moment with a grit guard at the bottom. And your right, its the drying that seems to do the damage... different microfibre... does it matter? another new thing I have learnt if so! Not worried about the neighbours, they already think Im mad for buying a supercharger 6ltr car as it is!!thumbup
Was looking to get some Do Do wax to try but you mention a glaze as well..? Apologies but whats that? I thought I polished occasionally and waxed ever mth if I wash the car weekly...?
Ive been trying to explain to my old man about the fact that his days of polishing cars only are in the dark ageas having read a bit on here.

Try using 2 buckets one for rinsing the mitt after each pass and one with shampoo, a plush pile drying towel will also help to keep the wash marks to a minimum.

Having just completed a correctional detail on a VXR8 I have witnessed the paint to be marked fairly easy but with a careful approach these should be reduced.
