advise on camera purchase needed please!

I need to new a new digital camera and need some advice. I like the idea of a "last year’s model" sort of deal from such websites (for example) ebuyer.com, or any you may recomend, as I’m know professional! I find the prospect of photography exciting, so I would like a camera with a bit of potential. Not too big and not to small, I will enjoy taking pictures of wildlife in general including birds. So I presume it will not to have a fair range. Are there any good deals about on cameras that you think will suite me.

Many Thanks

Matt
