Fully laden tyre pressures

Off on a road trip in the Tam, with 18" wheels, and will be fully laden with me & Mrs LT, plus a compliment of gear for a nearly two week trip. Whats peoples recomendations on what my tyre pressures should be? Cheers.

I believe that the Owners Manual says 24 for normal driving or 30 for sustained high speed or when fully laden.

Not tried 30 but seems like you may feel every bump of that two weeks especially on poorly surfaced roads.

Yeah, I read that today. But I also wondered if that was perhaps a little on the high side. Actuall says 30 for the fronts and 32 on the rears. Guess I could start at that and see how I go.

Any other experiences?

For Le Mans last year with camping kit for 2 for 1 week and loads of clothes I kept them to 24 as usual and they were fine.

Thanks for the replies, but I can't believe only 3 people have ever loaded up their car for a long trip Any other thoughts?

I stuck 26PSI in the rears for long trips to the continent. 24 has been fine on most trips though. Remember, the pressure increases when the tyres get hot (and in a hotter climate they get hotter etc.).

More important is to take a foot pump and extra tyre re-sealant with you. Try finding a new TVR sized tyre in France on any day, never mind a Sunday when much of Europe is asleep.

Same trip as Willtvr (although more miles covered !!) and I kept to 24. I found the handling too skittish at higher pressures so happily sacrfificed a bit of comfort for confidence.

I also kept that pressure for the track day so it seems a pressure for all seasons (sic).

Mind you, will did mug me on the track in a Diesel BWM, WHICH I put down entirely to dodgy tyre pressures....

Done two huge road trips 4000 miles and 3500 miles last year and the year before, fully laden with clothes, parts and pretty much a complete service kit. Kept it at 24psi and it never missed a beat so I would say stick to 24 and some of that was german motorways at some pretty vmax type speeds.
