Gearbox Inspection Hole Open

Hello again, can someone tell me if the gearbox inspection hole [edited: was cover] on my 96 Griff should have a cover on it!

From the akward angle I was looking I could makeout what I guess is the flywheel (thick disk with sprockets all the way around it)

Getting back into this oil and grease stuff after 10 years.

from what i can gather some had them fitted some didnt..

That makes me feel happier, especially after finding and oil filter satuated in oil and panicing! oops
