Hi Guys,

My 360 has a new feature - when I drive off the car warning comes up with 'slow down' which apparently means the exhaust is too hot but it happens when the exhaust is cold? and to make things more strange if I turn the stereo on and off again it resets it and the message doesn't come back until the next time I drive it? The performance is fine, the exhaust sounds fine - its a Tubi but new only 1000 miles ago. Has anyone got any tips on a sensor I may need to clean or check? It's only happened since I cleaned it yesterday and I half think maybe something got wet through the challenge grill when washing it?

Any ideas appreciated and cheaper than Ferrari telling me their thoughts...

Cheers

Craig

I have a 355 that has had issues with the cat control stations that measure the temperature from the thermocouple that sits downstream of the cat (or decat). Basically on the 355, water gets into the housing of the control box and shorts it out, causing the warning, or worse, cutting a bank of cylinders. Its a pretty simple system, and i would imagine is the same or very similar on the 360. Might be worth getting those controllers checked out, i could tell you where to find them on the 355, but not the 360.
Hope this is of some help.

Right took it out for a drive for over an hour and didn't get an errors at all so I will accept it was a gremlin caused by my jetwasher and be more careful washing her in future.

Phew...

Part number 20, look just like the 355 units, once water gets in it will go. I've just replaced mine, they are about 130 quid each, so not the end of the world.

If you look where they are positioned, a jet wash will do the damage if put up the wheel arch.

See how you get on. smile

Is it just heat that causes the "slow down" light - I thought emmissions would cause it too.

99% of the time, their is no heat issue, its just a faulty controller. My car is decatted, so no chance of catalyst fire, as that is all the system is there for, to warn, and prevent cat fire. It has 2 modes, where it blinks as it reaches a certain setpoint, then over a higher setpoint will shutdown a bank of cylinders to ensure the heat doesnt keep rising.

Obviously, first check is to see if you do have an over heating cat, an IR heatgun would be the best bet for that.

I'd put money on it being spurious though, and the fact that you just washed it then had problems, backs that up. wink

Make sure Stereo isn't causing a voltage drop due to short. This can damage
ECU's and cause strange readings and faults. These cars don't like low voltage.
