I don't believe it! I saw a plod Merceded's M class the other day too. Now I know where my taxes are going! Why the hell do they need to drive around in a 50 grand mercedes? I would think thats the last thing they would want to be driving in in a car chase so whats the point? My blood is boiling!

I don't think they pay what we pay for these things.
I remember Lancs police being offered the new Range Rover for £25k and they turned them down cos they couldn't afford the petrol bill!

The actual cost of initially buying the vehicle is nowhere near as important as it's running costs (i.e. warranty/non warranty repairs, how much time it spends off the road) and it's ability to do the job.

The police need something that won't break, as a lot of manufacturers have a 'no police cars' clause in their warranty, or the warranty only lasts for 60,000 miles or less (which a Police motorway vehicle will do in about 6 months...)
