How hard is it to lift the body off my chim?
Is there a step by step idiots guide?

My outriggers need changing and i need to di it myself, as the cost will just be more than the car is worth by the time i get a TVR garage to do it

It's not that bad, just time consuming!

I'm just finishing mine, 6 inch lift with no help except a local welding company to replace all the outriggers. Only engine and gearbox not removed just mounts replaced, everything else has been removed and refurbished or replaced. It has taken about 4-5 months of evenings and Sundays. I see you live in south Wales; I’m between Newport and Chepstow so you are very welcome to come and have a look at how to lift the body before it’s lowered in the next week or so. Target is on the road for the May Bank Holiday.
There is a good guide at the start of the Griff forum and in the Chimaera pages, PM me if you what to know more.

You can do a 2" raise leaving the exhausts, electrics, brake lines etc. in place. Just finished doing it on my Griff.

From memory,

Get car as high as possible on 4 good axel stands
Remove battery
Drain and remove fuel tank
Drain and remove radiator
Remove both front chassis bolts (below radiator) and disconnect wiring loom from oil pressure sensor etc
Remove 2 chassis bolts from front top of centre console (for this and next step, if you plan to replace carpet soon just cut a small section to allow access save loads of time)
Remove 14 bolts going through the floor and through the chassis plates
Remove the 4 seat belt mounting bolts
Remove the 4 bolts from behind the fuel tank
Disconnect the steering shaft at the lower UJ
Remove 90 degree section of air intake hose
Cut some of the cable ties that hold the brake lines near the starter motor and any tight cables between body and chassis ie speed sensor, reverse switch etc to allow some flex when you lift
Slacken off hand brake adjuster to allow a almost vertical lever
Remove gear knob
Lift using a jacks and wood to spread the load or 6 + people and support body on wood across the top of the upper shock mounts front and rear

This will only give a couple of inches due to the exhaust manifolds fouling in the body and is only really enough to clean and repaint the tops of the outriggers. If any welding is needed I would recommend removing the exhaust system including the manifolds as in the guide at the start of the Griff forum. I did mine this way, lifting 6-7 inches to replace all the outriggers but left the main engine loom, starter wiring, clutch and brake lines connected.

I’m sure someone will point out anything I’ve missed.
