Right, bit far for this time of night, but you need to work out if its an individual cylinder that is misfiring.
You can do this by dropping a few drops of water onto each exhaust pipe , the one which isnt firing should be cooler.

If they are all the same then it must be further up the system, probably ignition side.
Poor dizzy caps and rotor arms can be a source of random misfires.

Have you tried a new ignition amplifier?? these can break down when hot. Also try disconnecting the mass air flow meter when its running and see if that sorts it. (don't run it too long with meter disconnected). I've just had the same problems which looks like its the maf thats knackered.

Let me know

Cheers

I have gone back over everything and it seems ok, it did have an issue when I had the car back with the leads popping off but I have checked all of them, the car has never ran right since I had a new cam in, the person who done it has had it back a couple of times to sort out but no good, they have said they will put another cam in but they are going through a tough time at the moment so I am trying to get things sorted my end as I cant go out in it at the moment which is very frustrating, so I am trying somewhere else next week was hoping it might be something I could try and do so it doesnt cost me more money as the bottomless pit is starting to close, still keep on trying.

Hi,might just be worth backtracking on what you have done.If it was fine before the new coil have you broken the HT lead when removing from coil? Any damaged or poor connections on the low tension side[4 small wires}or trapped any cables on refit.Always worth going back over things.Regards,Dave.

I had exactly the same issue. Very frustrating. I fixed it by getting a new dizzy cap, plug extenders and magnecor leads. Been great since.

On yours it should be a black square plastic module next to the coil on an aluminium plate. Nothing much you can do with it except replace with a known good one. Have you tried disconnecting the afm yet? it's worth a try and just might save you some ££££££'s

When I started the Chim I did see a spark come from the ing amp area so maybe it is that, are they expensive and where do you get them from, When I had the cam done I had other leads on new shrouds but it made my tacho bounce so he put another set on look cheaper with old shrouds so could be them,

Hi there,
I bought a Bosch coil as a replacement and fitted it to my Chimaera to see if it would remove a slight misfire problem at light throttle openings. When I fired her up, I could smell like burning rubber or insulation. Could not work out exactly where it was coming from but put the old one back in and the smell went away.

Never was sure what caused it but it seemed to be changing the coil. Could some Chimaeras have been fitted with different ignition amplifiers that certain Bosch coils could overload or anything ?
Ideas anyone ?

Matt

The coil I put on is slightly larger than the old one, would the ign amplifier when warm cause a missfire, I am hoping to get it sorted this week but wont hold my breath

Yep, the heat can cause an ign amp to fail. It may be worth changing it just to make sure...thats if you can borrow a known good one.
