Elise S2 Roof Problems - DESPERATE for Help Please!

Hey guys

I have just experienced Lotus' complete disregard for its customers in trusting my local Main Dealer to get a replacement roof tensioner cable from Lotus.

One month (yes, a whole freekin month) and I've still got a damn flappy roof! The Dealer assures me they're not getting deliveries from Lotus, and I've got no reason not to believe that they haven't ordered the part - they've been called every week by me to check.

Does anyone know where I can get hold of a replacement cable? It's getting really serious! I can't drive anywhere above 35mph with the roof on :-(

It's the cable that keeps the front of the roof taut against the windscreen, to prevent the windstream from turning the roof into a parachute.

I'm really desperate! I've searched ebay flat, forums, elise aftermarket dealers, you name it. I just haven't tried breakers' yeards yet. I have even contacted Lotus directly, but they don't give a *****. Not interested whatsoever, "contact your local main dealer" is how they deal with their cherished customers.

Not sure I can help with the cable, but my understanding is that Lotus are in the process of moving their parts warehouse from Bristol to Hethel, which has meant that dealers have been having difficulty obtaning spares (strange this should coincide with the T5 debacle huh). This would explain why you have't received your parts and probably puts the dealer in the clear.

Only other thing I can think is to ring round other Lotus dealerships' parts depts to see if any of them have one in stock that they could post to you.

Try a Vauxhall dealer, VX220 cable the same I believe.

Phone Lotus customer Service direct - don't have no to hand but sure someone will be able to help. They have always got stock delivered for me when the stealers say it isn't available, and if it really isn't available at least they might be able to advise on expected date for delivery. K

Vauxhall are a PITA to do replacement cables.

But if you can get onto the VX220 forum without your eyes bleeding from the replica elises Elizp987 Sells replacement cables

I know this does'nt help but I think that Lotus are in the process of moving their parts department at the moment or something because I'm waiting for parts and was told this by my dealer.Mind you that info was given over two weeks ago!!

Can't you borrow a roof off the dealer? Surely they would understand?

Doesn't matter if its a soft or hard top ...

Post up on SELOC also, someone may have a spare roof they'll lend you for a few weeks in return for a few beers.
