When I bought my Cerb it had the 18" anthracite spiders fitted - the fronts were a bit scuffed, and I added to that through not allowing for the ste turning circle and no edge protection on the 225 front tyres.
First question : I know 225 is correct width for standard fronts, but they seem too narrow on the Spiders - any experience/advice here?

Secondly, I dont like the scuffed look, so going to get all 4 powder coated - opinions please on keeping them dark (see profile pic), or reverting back to silver?
I wasnt sure about them when I got it, but they grew on me, and now cant make up my mind what to go for - would dark put some people off on re-sale? (God forbid!!)

Cheers

Mines blue like yours though different shade, and for me Silver is best with blue. Anthracite works on some cars, but not blue. Fantastic on white, and OK on red, silver and yellow, but you'd need to be a real lover of custard to drive one of those!

Forget who done it now, but yellow calipers work well

As for tyres, rim protectors are useless, just have to take care. Most of the scuffing and flaking on mine is around the wheel nuts from wheel removal, but as it is a daily driver I will not consider refurb until they are realy shot.

Firstly, the wheel width is compromise by TVR at 8.5". Those who have replaced theirs with after-market wheels go for 8" fronts and 9" rears, which fit the car better as well as the tyres.

I considered all of the options you've gone through for my car (black), and decided that while I loved the "black" look, it didn't really suit the look of the car - just too over the top. So I stuck with silver. I reckoned that anthracite would clash with the black too.

On yours being blue, I think black is OTT, silver for the "smart" look or anthracite for a more "mean and moody" look. Just my opinion of course! biggrin

The thing about a Cerb is that whatever you choose, you know it's going to be stunning...

I went through all this recently and had similar thoughts. My Cerb is Moonraker Black and I eventually decided to have the alloys done the same colour. They are growing on me after the initial shock of seeing them transformed from their original silver. Main trouble is they show every bit of dust (road & brake) As Morebeanz said, not everybodies cup of tea but I like them. Not the best of photos tho.

Simon

Totally different beastie. They look great, black on black.

If in doubt, ask a woman. They are better colour co-ordinated supposedly. Over to you Fubes...hehe

Never met the fellah, and he'll probably lump me one day, but Porsche and Fubar seem fair game

That does look good, Simon. Very nice.

I think a crucial difference for my car was I have tints on the windows as well, and the black wheels made it look very "drug dealer"!!!

I like the dark wheels and the black on black looks great Simon.

If your cerbera is blue then how about some polished spiders or black chrome. I have the original RL's on mine that are polished and the effect is really good. Would love some polished spiders but can't justify the expense (Just bought new gaiters, wheel nuts, disc, pads, Gaz shocks....)

If you want one more random opinion, i would prefer silver wheels with your blue coloured cerb, i'm sure navy blue and bacl are a fashion faux par anyway biggrin

I had my wheels powder coated, lovely finish, silky, but tough.

I've a few plans for another toy, and another Cerb is on the shortlist. I've got to be honest and declare my love of the Satan-look; blood red interior with a black outer, including black wheels.

Your car looks fabulous Simon.

Before getting the spiders re-firbished check that they are not dented on the inner rim. When I bought my cerb the front whould shake at 80+ MPH. I thought this was down to the wheels needing a re-ballance. After getting the wheels re-ballanced the shake was still there. Afetr a bit of advice I then checked that the inner rim of the wheels was running true. Three of the four had dents. The front and rear near side were the worst. I am now looking at getting a set of silver SP12s fitted.

Hi,

I drive 225/40 ZR 18 (front) and 255/35 ZR 18 (rear). The tyre size on the front wheels is more comfortable and the rims will be better secured against damage. I also like, that the tyres fit better in the wheel arch. For the rim colour I think it depends on personal taste, I like satin black on my yellow cerb.

I'm going through exactly the same dilemma, and have decided that I will have anthracite wheels with the blue. It does look more mean and moody and that's how I want my Cerb to look biggrin

ME 2! Mind you I still have a set of silver spiders on now, but sitting nestled in my garage are re-furbed anthracites waiting to go on. Blue with dark coloured wheels, luv it. I like dark coloured wheels on anything anyway,

Land rover 90 - Black modulars
Land rover hybrid - Black modulars
Nissan 200sx - Bronze RX8 alloys
Cerbera - Soon to be anthracite spiders
Nissan navara - silver alloys (yes its the odd one out)
Anyone spot a theme??

Hmmmm - just as I thought, everyone seems to have their own view so I'm on my own with the colour!

With regard to the dents, yes one is and the wheel refurbishers are sorting it, but the 225's (pirrelli) I have on fronts dont offer any rim protection at all.
