M5 or 535i ?? Pics inside - HELP!!

Hi all,

Thought I would post this here as may be able to gather a little more advice from people 'in the know'.

I've been a jammy little bugger and been offered the above car for FREE!

My thread in GG is here http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a... but now that the pics have been added could someone give me some more info. It was described as an M5 but I'm starting to think it is a 535i in drag - but would love be corrected.

It's not an M5, 535 would be correct, only thing M5 on that car are the front and rear badges, but I would bet they are not genuine, for free however still worth it.

Hey Moose,

It's a 535i fitted with the 218bhp M30 engine.

It looks fairly clean, how many miles has it got on it?

These engines usually overheat if they haven't had regular coolant changes. A full cooling system service should return it to health, you can get the parts from BMW main dealers or from places like Euro Car Parts. They bit's shouldn't be too pricey either.
The engine is nice and easy to work on too.

What's the interior like? Does it have the sports seats?

As I mentioned in the other thread, if you do break it, I'd be interested in some bits!

Bob - I'll probably whip it to a garage and see what they think when I get my hands on the car. If it is going to cost a fortune then will break up for parts etc. What parts would you be interested in? I'll then give you first refusal

Cheers Moose, if you decide to break it I would be interested in the brakes and probably the gearbox too.

Though I do hope you get the old girl on the road!
