my split rims... ouch
Discussion
Posted this on general gassing but nothing coming back. Myabe too car related perhaps ?? [or just too boring]
Anyway my 18 inch split rims are looking a little sorry at the moment. Water has got under the coating on the outer rim and is lifting it off. Looks 'orrible.
Plastic Rugeons says its v difficult to part the split rims and they won't do it. I can well imagine how uptight Porsche would get about telling folk how to go about putting the rims back together again.
So anyone here know who could do this for me ?
Cheers.

There are a few specialist around that can do it, but you must make that they replace all the bolts with new ones (old ones cannot be reused).... this also makes it very very expensive, a friend of mine managed to get some replica 18" split rims for his 993 turbo at about half the cost of restoring the originals.
Well if its going to be that expensive (chap at Plastic Surgeon said he thought each weel would be £80 to refurb but without taking the rim apart), I could have a go myself and see if I can recoat them. They also need a lick of a lathe round them to tidy them up.
One thing after another..... tsk !
