Serious post.

Sitting away at work, when my colleague turns around to say that her daughter who is 13, was asked to name as many sex positions as she can, and also put condom's on dildos!!
Surely at the age of 13 you should'nt be going that far into it?
13, I just wanted to play football!
When I was at school, it was you put it in there than BANG. Is anyone's kids said anything about Sex Education at school?

I reckon they should learn how to put on a condom, although they should also couple it with graphic videos of a difficult child birth and images of STDs. That'd ensure they were careful!

No, completely agree with what you state. However, it seems alot at such a young age.

My daughter is 11 - she know's in vague terms where babies come from and who helps the process along. I can't quite imagine in 24 months time she would be shown how a condom should be put on - or that she would be 'taught' sex positions.

Seems too much information. Way too much.

I knew at 13 how babies were made - but it was a no go area until you were much older. That seemed fair enough.

the whole point of the name the positions is that it may well highlight some of the urban/ playground myths like the you can't make a girl pregnant if it's their first time, or that sex with her on top prevents conception etc, asking in that manner gives the playground sages who know all these facts a chance to be proved wrong, and as for condoms onto a dildo sounds like a good solution, besides does the daughter know what dildos are? as far a she knows they could be a teaching tool, the real question is is the teacher female and are all the dildos the same or are they the teacher's personal collection?

yes
Completely agree. With the amount of teenage pregnancy, you have to pick your target audience correctly.
Better to know than not...

No need. wink

The positions bit seems a bit far - but I would imagine this might not have been "taught", and more just the way the conversation went before being steered back towards "safe sex", "how not to get pregnant" etc

I'd rather they had an awareness from a younger age. If it wasn't such a taboo subject in this country I swear kids wouldn't start having such young sex to "rebel". Teach them self respect and relationship issues with it.

We had practically nothing at school, certainly never mentioned positions! We just seemed to get stuff about puberty and periods!

We didn't have any sex education at all and I mean nothing. The closest we got was GCSE science. Periods were mentioned once at Junior school but that was it....

shame my (substitute) Pe teacher didnt...she was only there for a week but fk me, probably one of the prettiest girls i've ever seen (she was only 19)...probably because she was swedish though.

Pe was a fking pain that week though. her (with the language barrier) making a few oh so nice remarks ('let me show you how to work the balls' for instance). standing there with a semi wasnt fun!

I was 13 7 years ago, never had any sex education except the science stuff (at school, that is).

It needs to happen at that age, most girls I know lost their virginities when they were 15. And they were doing sexual things about a year before that.

I believe it's happening because most girls at that age (and other ages) have a preference for older boys (maturity, money, status symbol etc.). Of course these older boys might look impressive when they've got the 14 year old class hottie, but if you consider that some of them are 19 it's not quite so impressive.

My friend teaches 11-16 year olds and for the majority of 13/14 year old girls - their whole aim in life is to have kids and live off benefits!

A large proportion of the girls do fulfill their ambition - with many having antenatal checks whilst still in school - very sad.

I went to a "good school" back in the day, I was taught sex ed in year 9, about 14. I had already lost my virgnity, but I was taught how to put on condoms (using a broom handle) we were even taught about periods too late for most of us.
If you have a good enough relationship with your children then please give them info ASAP. If not, then start difficult conversations ASAP.

Best of luck smile
