I'm looking at getting a impreza wrx can anyone give me an idea on running costs? On average I do about 60-70 miles a week. what should I look out for when looking over one?

Many thanks

As far as running costs go, here's what I've found over the last year of owning an 01 WRX -

Insurance - Not too silly, I pay about 500 quid with all (minor) mods declared (I'm 33 and that's for me and the wife).
Service & parts - Again not too bad, my last service was the big 50k one and it cost me about 550 quid at a Subaru dealer iirc.
Fuel - Horrendous! You really should run it on Tesco 99 or V Power, and it currently costs me best part of 60 quid to fill up, which lasts about 250-280 miles, and that's not driving like I stole it all the time (just sometimes!). Max of 25mpg if you're lucky.
The worst expense is once you do a little tiny mod, you just can't stop and end up spending a fortune! I've only just started and I'm skint!

Hope I haven't painted a bleak picture, as they are absolutely great cars, and I would highly recommend one!

What Weso said biggrin

Mine is an 02 WRX Sportwagon that's getting an STi conversion and should be all of the above plus a bit thirstier. If you can deal with the fuel thirst you'll be a very happy man all round thumbup

O dear stevieb looks like your in for a shock

http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/road-tax/

the sti is £440 from march 2009

and £455 from 2010

The new tax calculation's affect every car regestered after 2001 with a co2 figure on it's v5 (log book)

Note in for a shock but the last time i checked parkers 7 days after the budget the banding was 300 and something for 2009 and 400 and something for 2010. Seems like they have corrected the site.

The car is going for a diesel soon anyway so havenet really bothered to keep up with it.. But i will still be covered by the £210 tax band until and will have to pay the new rate in march 2010... My Tax disc expire Edn Feb 2009, so will renew with the £210 for another year if i still have it as a second car!
