Well, it made my day....
Discussion
Had the Chimaera for nearly 5 months now. THe smile never goes!
Anyway, for the first time today, a guy (about 25 shaved head, looked hard!) came up to me just as I was getting into the TVR with the roof down and said "Nice car mate!" to which I replied "Thanks Mate" he smiled and walked away.
I was chuffed, and it made my day! Never happened to me before
Cheers

Get used to it - it will become a regular occurance. If you ever need a "pick-me-up" find a set of traffic lights with a pub beside and time it so you stop at the red light. Best part of the pub will turn around, most will smile. Keep the passenger seat available - you never know your luck.....
N17 TVR - LOL!!! Think my fiance would be a little shocked
I have recieved loads of admiring looks and smiles (and a few negative!!) and I love driving passed crowds outside a pub, just giving it a little bit
But it is the first time someone has actually come over and commented
Cheers

I'd guess that it would occur to most people that their home grown. But the styling is unique enough to attract comment. Even the colours are often somewhat unusual, and because they often do not scream LOOK AT ME, people are less likely to assume that the driver is a t
r.I have a great story on the same lines...
I was in Wales, driving the Chim in a small seaside village. There were a group of 3 girls (18ish m'lud) by the side of the road, and i clearly heard one say "look at that young lad....in daddy's car".
I'm 30 - and apparently a young lad!
I've not driven my dad's car for 12 years
That totally made my day!!

The tennis club I belong to uses the courts of a local hotel, and a couple of weeks ago I was dropping off the keys to the changing rooms after the game. I had just got into the car when a Dutchman came bounding up to me and said "You haff a vunderfull car". He went on to tell me that he had just won a bet. His friends bet him it was a Griffith, but he knew it was a Chimaera. He even knew how to pronounce it. It made me

Try it in France - the French seem much more appreciative of nice motors (I guess they haven't been bludgeoned into PC submission of cars bad/buses good.) I quote 'British car - very nice!' Gee whizz, I can live with that!
Mind you, 8 TVRs ripping through a cute French village must be a pretty unusual occurence! Does anyone know how many TVRs live in France? Work that per square mile and I think you get 'damn rare'.

Had ours since Feb and this has happened to us on numerous occasions! Can anyone think of a "cool" reply rather than our usual "thanks"
It depends who's asking, who they're with, what they're doing where.
Beautiful girl on her own at at bus stop = "Can I give you a lift"
Yobbo carrying a large stick, in the company of mates in Mosside = lot's of loud pedal
It's just possible there's some middle ground I haven't thought too hard about though.

Too true Seasider - he does NOT like Boxsters.
How was your coolant temp on Sunday ?
Griff temp was fine, more than can be said for mine when i shut my keys in the boot demonstrating the modwise boot release
I might even have to move the switches up a bit... its not getting to the high 80's in the evenings or perhaps i'll have a day night setting

Had a Zenith Blue Boxster for 2 years and changed to a Cosmos Blue Chim earlier this year.
Cars are similar in colour but the Chim gets 10 times the attention the Boxster ever received.
Interesting perception that the general public seem to have of the 2 cars.
During my Boxster ownership, I had more than my fair share of "oiks" spitting at the car
and making up and down hand motions
.
Since having the Chim, even the "oiks" have changed their hand motions to a thumbs up and shout "nice car mate".

It appears to be a common theme with Tiv's, people seem to like and appreciate them, maybe it's because of the noise or the fact that they are Brit made.
My neighbour has a Boxster and doesn't tend to enjoy the same reaction.
My last car was a new Boxster S and although I did have people on a regular basis saying "Nice car mate" there was always the envious looks and attitude also!! Never had the spitting though!!! Since owning a TVR the mood of people has certainly changed and I still get people saying "nice Car mate" but never get the envious looks or attitude, just heads turning to hear the noise!!!
