£10k for a Griff is this sensible?
Discussion
Ok i guess its been covered a million times so feel free to tell me to shut up
I have finally decided i need another TVR in my life (had a T350T a cpl of yrs ago)
Anyway i have always loved the looks/ sound of the Griff.
So my question. Is £10k enough to buy a decent Griff (pref a 500)?

Seem to be a fair few Griffs advertised of late north of the border......

I don't think I'd let my Pre-cat go for £10k
I bought it 3.5yrs ago for £15k and although prices seemed to nose dive when TVR turned up its toes, they seem to have rallied and are a bit more stable now.
Mind you, now is the time to get on board and get a Griff. They are being recognised as classics now and prices will start to climb again IMHO

A desperate seller might let a decent car go for £10k, but if that's your limit how are you going to maintain it? What if it needs a clutch or cam?
IMHO most Griffs in that price range are going to need some work - but it depends what your standards are. Most of the early cars are going to have needed some significant tlc by now, so good ones are unlikely to be cheap. You might find early 500s which haven't yet had a hood / paint / chassis treatment and are priced accordingly, but I don't think you'll find one that 'needs nothing' for £10k.
It costs a lot of money to put a bad car right, and even more to get a good car perfect.

just seen this one, with furnhurst, with a 12 month warranty, must be worth a look?

Buy with your eyes open and 10K will get you a griff 500. Yes it might need work but they all do.
Absolutely right, all Griffs are old cars now and will require an amount of work whether it's major or minor. There seems to still be people who want a brand new car no matter how much money they're spending. I sold my Griff 2 months ago for 10K and it certainly wasn't a shed nor was it perfect, it was just an honest 14 year old car. My suggestion is keep searching and you will find what you want.

When theyve got a few "chracter marks" on them there less likely to be garage tarts. I found when I used mine every day it was great, everything seemed better and it made me smile too.
