Took the car today to JNM for my engine healthcheck expecting woes galore. Compression test passed with flying colours, a little leakage found, but no more than to be expected, turbos fine and making (unmodified) 356bhp and 341 lbft torque. Much more than I was expecting. biggrin

Don't believe all the doom and gloom sometimes on here about engines. Mine made 409bhp after a year+ with just normal servicing - within 3% of the quoted figure.

Just shows how good the engines in them are generally. I don't thrash it particularly but I don't always drive like a granny either so I'm pretty pleased it's lost so little (unless it's an M400 engine in there and no-one told me biggrin).

Was thinking of selling it - now that I know it's perfectly healthy and I've got a little diamond I'm not so sure. Good baseline for an upgrade too.

very good news!

mine was making only 10 bhp more originaly and it
was a m400 tested on the same road as yours.

notwithstanding headline power hikes, the JNM mods will make the car much more enjoyable to drive, the increased torque allowing accessibility of the performace on the road.

go for it!

I think I will do a Stage 3 - from my own experience and the recommendation of others, the chaps there really seem to know their stuff. They reckon 410 is easily achievable with a standard exhaust so it should still be quite a big jump from what I currently experience.

Makes a change to get a smaller bill than expected for once biggrin.

good decision ! you know it makes sense!

yes these guys do seem to know their onions re this engine, as you would imagine given their level of involvement with Noble at the time and their own developement work since.
