I have got some side repeaters from tvr carparts as the MOT states that my car being post 1986 needs them. They are the square ones (bout an inch each way) that slot in and then turn to lock in place. Does any one know a rough guess on the thickness of the shell between the front wheel arch and the front bumper ( that is where I am gonna fit em). I think the screw in design was for a metal car and I am not sure that it will work on the the wedge???

Also, I am no electrical engineer, but is it safe to take out the front indicaters, cut the wires and attach new ones that go straight to the new side repeaters?

Thanks guys

Between 5 and 10mm
5mm in panel centre and thickens towards the joint line (stripe) and arch etc.
Make sure you are in the 'pod area' as the bulk head (vetical ledge in front of bonnet) runs across to the outer wing skin therefore access to the arch side from pod space is not possible.

I'm not a electrics expert either but I would loop into the existing loom as the repeater is very small watts. The loom runs thru' the pod area so easy if you are removing pods.

Thanks David I have got them fitted to the car, just made the hole slightly smaller than the unit.

However, I wired it up and it all worked but when the headlight pods closed they tore a wire out and since then when i put the indicators on in any direction, all of the lights flash on both sides???? Any ideas???Would a damaged flasher unit do this?

Cheers Mike

So much for getting it in for a retest tomorrow!!!
