air bag warning light

Is there any way of fault finding these? it's an E36 coupe btw with door, driver and passenger airbags

My old one used to do it all the time! Not sure why?!

My old E39 used to do it, dealer changed a cable under the passnger seat.
Two months later the same thing again, they replaced it for free the second time and didn't need to be touched after that

You need either go to the dealers for a fault code reader session or buy a devise from eBay for around £60, I bought one simply because I had 2 cars with their A/bag lights on & tought it would be handy.

It read the fault codes, 1 was reset the other had issues which required parts changing, I guess it paid for it self straight away.

Moved the seats recently?
It's worth looking at the front seat belts pre-tensioner connection (wire to the seat belt under the seat). If the connection becomes loose then you will get the airbag light on and it can only be reset using the airbag reset tool. Check the connection is secure and get it reset (friendly dealer/indie may do it for nothing).

My e39 has the airbag light on when i had it remapped the mapper sais the fault was to do with the drivers seat airbag mat/connection something along them lines. even if i get it fixed does the light need resetting ?

Yes Mate,the light will still be on without resetting.
