Is it me or is Freeserve running like a pig tonight? I'm with Anytime and due to changing hosts from Portland to 123-Reg I've been offline for a week. It was fine before, now it's crap. Coincidence?

Have had a few problems with Freeserve Anytime myself in the last few weeks. Has been excellent service up to recently.

It's always crap. Doesn't help some linux arseholes releasing viruses that are just adding to the junk traffic on the internet.

Actually it's much better today. Funny how one person's experiences can be very different from another: I tried V21 earlier this year and it was almost impossible to get a line during the day, and totally impossible in the evening. So they got £9.99 from e for virtually nothing. It also had the irritating habit of connecting then disconnecting 10 seconds later, just as you were starting to do something. I really must get on to Trading Standards.

And yet a friend uses V21 and has no problems at all!

People who write viruses that target solely microsoft products are invariably affiliated to the world of Linux.

Funny. I'd have thought to write effective Windows viruses, you'd need to be a Windows propellerhead, not a Linux one.

And define "affiliation" in this context.

People who write viruses are invariably exceptional coders and are nothing more than affiliated with exceptional code.

If the software industry had any sense they would be sending these people job offers by the hundred.

Absolutely, they are normally dis-gruntled programmers, who have lost their way due to lack of job satisfaction or exploitation by their former employers.

Virus writers should be eliigible for a custodial sentence. With all the logging that ISP companies provide, I am very surprised that an ISP has not yet followed the trafiic and prosecuted to the letter of the law; If Mr Virii got caught and given 2 years in the slammer, then maybe these gifted w@ankers would think about the ramifications before acting.

On a positive side I have earned a lot more money this week updating all my clients AV products with AVG, as I am a reseller
