Griff Air Vents (again)

Hi All,
As I have got centre-console, glove compartment out due to mice (see earlier handbrake post), I'm faced with a bit of plastic pipe going nowhere! The fresh air vent on the passenger side feeds across to the central vents but the pipe that feeds this vent just points into the footwell. There doesn't seem to be anywhere for it to plug into. Nothing in Steve's book about it. Should the pipe just point towards the inner wing where the airflow would be coming from, although this seems blocked by the heater mechanism, which would make sense else it'd be a draught !!
