I spent Saturday removing it from the donor car. I'll spend the next couple of months rebuilding it. Most of the spec is finalised. Pretty much everything needs to be changed or worked (the crank and block will remain standard).

My second-in-command is just giving it his approval.... biggrin

Nice to see someone doing something different!biggrin Good luck with the build! What sort of power will you get from the rebuilt motor? Is it staying normally aspirated?

Thanks Dave. It's going to be twin turbo. Somewhere in the region of 500-600 bhp.

Way to go!
This has got to be the way forward from the ubiquitous Ford Chevy lumps.
I bet they stand up to a beating better too.

feck, good spot! Think a new one of those would be going in regardless of condition of the current one!

Hi,

Great choice of engine, I am using the same in mine. Suspect your power estimates just might be a little low but depends on the turbo's you are using I suppose. I'm expecting 400-450 from my supercharged engine using an Emerald ECU before I build a modded engine.

Good news on the starter - if you didn't know already although you have to take the inlet off to remove it you won't need it because the conversion with the G50 box uses the Porsche starter on the Porsche flywheel (all Lexus 48's are autos so no flywheel as such). The starter position is the only bit of bad design I've seen on this engine, 6 bolt mains and much more - it's even got a water/oil cooler built in as standard!

As I've said, mine will be supercharged but I have a friend in the Netherlands who is building a twin turbo for a T70 project. Mail me offline if you like.

Cheers, Richard
