I don't think you are allowed a remote starter anyway are you?

Depends on the class, Pro Mod can't and Super Class cars need on board starters too, but Top Fuel, Funny car, Top methanol and (I'm pretty sure) Comp Eliminator are allowed remote starters.

Possibly not as it's in a door car (Volkswagen), i need one on the dyno though as my starter on the car is likely to have to go on the chassis so won't work with the dyno, need a dyno session to order a torque converter!

That's what you get for trying something different! biggrin

It may be worth calling round some different dyno peeps. most water brake dynos have a starter on them so the dyno cranks the engine via the prop them you dont have to bother wasting money on something you mite only use once.By the way that is one completely awesome hot rod you have built!so original and refreshing bow

Thanks! biggrin

Trouble is most dyno people don't want to know as soon as i say it's a VW motor even though it's all chevy as far as bolting it up goes, uses a standard chevy flex plate and bolts to a 'glide but they still ain't interested!

You're right though, chances are it would only get used once but what can you do? smile

I don't know if this information will be useful for ideas but, I used to bracket race against (and get beaten by! LOL) a Volkswagen powered rear engine dragster with an adapted glide. He somehow cut a notch in the top of the bellhousing and had a Chevy starter mounted there that faced opposite of normal.

That's what i was running on my old turbo set up, with the extra power i have now i'll be quick enough to bring on a whole new set of regs (SFI) and i won't be allowed to cut a starter into a new bellhousing.

i have a Child & Albert one, it ways more than the car but its very strong but we are going to make a new one using a light wieght helicopter starter some blue tac and egg boxes and double sided sticky tape i saw it on blue peter the other day,,, but seriosly a mate has just made one for his car with the helicopter motor and it works a treat
