Hi people, i have a 1976 series 3 109 pickup with a very broken 2.3 petrol engine as of today.
Do any of you know of anywhere i can get hold of a new one, bearing in mind i am poor, and dont mind overhauling it, a bit.
hope you can help! im very upset to see her in this state!

go V8- its only the conversion that would cost you some the actual running costs are barely different!

It may be cheaper (especially in the long run) to replace the engine with one from a Montego Turbo Diesel - buying the whole car would be the cheapest option as you get most of the bits you need, then you just need the conversion plate. I know of several people who have done this and ended up with a much more drivable vehicle.

For now, untill more time and funds become available i have bought another, identical Series 3 109 pickup with a descent engine and will do the simple swap, but one day, that V8 will be humming!

I have now dismantled my broken engine and am replcing the big end bearings and piston rings and she will be good as new, everything else seems in really good condition for a 32 year old engine, i'm suitably impressed! and now have 2 series 3 109 pickups in my garage, which is a good feeling!
