Finding the name of a music track used on TV
Discussion
I was channel hopping a few weeks ago and happened to catch some offshore powerboats on Motors TV. I'm not one for marine craft so was about to flip to the next channel when the background music caught my attention. I hit record on the Sky box and saved a small segment of it. I replayed it a few times and it's bloody awesome. Some really uplifting synth strings with lyric-less vox over the top.
How can go about finding out what the track is...?

I tried to record it using my laptop, but unfortunately, I can't match the levels. Line out to Mic in means massive distortion even with the input level right down.
This shazam thing might work but, well the things is, the commentator's talking all over the top of it and to be honest, I don't think it's a track in the sense that it's chart music. It's more like commercial music designed for used specifically in TV prouctions and stuff as backing music.

Ah, yeah it might not work too well with talking over it. The only places I know of tend to deal with music from adverts but someone may know if you can find a bit more info it.This shazam thing might work but, well the things is, the commentator's talking all over the top of it and to be honest, I don't think it's a track in the sense that it's chart music. Just in case have a look at www.soundsfamiliar.info or www.whatsthatcalled.co.uk
There is this programme on the net my mates use where you tap on the tune on your spacebar and it tells you the potential songs - it works too !

Completely by random...! I was sat in my workshop spannering on a model helicopter listening to di.fm and the track cam eon (well, a remix of it, but I recognised the vox straight away). Track name and artist is given on the screen in realtime so I got it straight away. Downloaded it from iTunes an hour or so later (that's another story though).
