... do it properly!

Still can't see for the life of me why the government set Traffic police targets for number of speeding tickets issued.

Surely the best way to handle a road safety initiative would be to set the police a target of "A reduction of x accidents on the following roads this year"

That way the police would be free to use whatever tools they required.

Betya anything there would be more trafpol pulling people over than waving speed cameras!

Reducing accidents doesn't raise money. Catching those evil speeders on the other hand ....

Certainly in my Force, we dont have to do a certain number of Speeding Tickets....just a return of somesort.

Its interesting to read that the Police should have targets to reduce Accidents at Accident Blackspots!
We do.........whether its by putting out more patrols( hmmmm) or by dishing out tickets.
These tickets do not have to be solely for speeding, they can be for any offences.

Its also very interesting to note that we are encouraged to give out Tickets for any offences other than using the process route for which the Police dont get any revenue and which also ties up Court time.

Sounds fair enough Tony, but I have obviously comitted another, (AJW patented) foot-in-mounth moment.

I was intending for scamera 'partnerships' to take heed and instead of just running their films through as evidence for speeders also look for tailgating and other such offences.

I know the police already do this sort of work because I've seen them at it.
