This has been discussed in the past, various thoughts but mostly upgrading the bulbs and possibly the wiring, do a search on this forum.

The Philips Vision Plus from Powerbulbs get my vote. £20 for the pair, road legal and very effective.

Nice one Richard - I'll get some of those. The standard H4's are a bit pants !

Agreed. Top banana... and do the "spot" lights too if you've got them...

Other than headlight bulbs, anybody thought of covering the headlight with a perspex cowling (a la Griffith) ..... just an idea but I reckon it might look pretty good.

Ibaboa Na Sagging (Top banana - Philippino)

I had some of that child-proof window safety film stuff left over so I used some on the spot lights (having had a previous one smashed by a stone). It's actually a bit of a bugger to put on such a small area, and I couldn't get all the air bubbles etc. out properly, but it doesn't show down on the spots and I reckon it'd offer a fair amount of protection from stones etc. Don't think I'd put it on the headlights though as it wouldn't look tidy enough.

Having just typed all that out, I've realised what you're talking about - I was thinking of the carbodisc things! I've never seen a Griffith style cowling for an S, but I have seen a fibreglass moulding that covers the chrome ring and sits in the headlight identation (if you see what I mean). I think it's supposed to give a Chimaera style appearance, but it actually looks a bit messy IMHO.

I've never seen them in the shops, only on the web.

I actually spoke to Powerbulbs, but I think the process is basically the same if you order from their site. I'm pretty sure they're H4's, but if you speak to them they can confirm it for you as it's the only twin filament bulb they do.

Clear Griffith Style covers would be cool for a S, as well as giving a bit more protection. Anybody got any idea how to mould them?

I'm sure I've seen racing MGBs with them fitted. I wonder if those could be adapted?

What about Tuscan racer covers? No doubt they're completely different, but the bonnet looks like a modified S bonnet

This has been discussed previously with no real outcome. Still think it`s a cool idea.

Think it was actually mate. General opinions are get some bulbs from Powerbulbs (Philips jobbies), maybe the Modwise kit...

As for the covers, yep this was discussed a while back. Talk was that the Tuscan racer ones might fit... it was discussed but nowt ever came of it. Probably sitting in the archives.... somewhere!
