Monaro Suspension Options

What else is out there apart from the AVO setup as I want something that gives both compression and rebound adjustment and I'm also fed up with issues regarding the rear springs sagging to much and at different levels - ie: one hight adjusted half out and the other now almost fully out just to keep the car level!
I'm going with KW variant 3's (listed for the pontiac GTO). Offer height, bump and rebound. Not tooo pricey either.
Couldn't find any others that did an off the shelf option. Whiteline don't do coilovers for these alas.
Of course a custom race setup with external reserviors would be better

My local shop can get them through KW UK on special order, otherwise a couple of US sites list them

Hi Guys,
I have had the KWs for about 8-12 months now and all I can say is do not install them with the standard KW springs. Myself (with Monkfish) and Gareth have had problems them being way too hard for our roads !!
In my case Roger gave me a perfect fix (although still miss my nice yellow springs) which sorted the bone shaker ride out. Other than that they are great with near factory ride quality and much better handling.
Cheers
Steven

I'm now on the 3rd set of springs on the KW set up, as standard they are way too hard, they are now close to were they should have been out of the box.
As standard they come with 90n/mm springs (about 500lbs) I've run with 80n, 70n and am now down to 60n, I would suggest anybody who is interested gets a ride to decide whether it's for them before they commit.

My car is only a toy and will do a bit of time at the ring this year so not to worried about the ride being hard. All I have found is the setup I currently have seems to get coil bound at speed and they seem to soft if anything. In fact I took one of my spring out tonight to check tire clearence on the new Mitchelins and you can see where the coil has been rubbing between the loops!! Put another replacement in that Monkfish kindly let me have a while back so two newer springs in now till I can save the pennies for the KW stuff. Wouldnt mind a ride in one with the hard springs just to see what it was like though....

I don't think you will find a car running on the hard springs, it isn't just an issue of comfort, the set up was so hard that the traction control spent more time on than off as the rear wheels bounced off any road irregularity.
You're welcome to come out for a spin in mine.
Cheers, are you going to the Hants meet at the weekend... ? could tie up then? You're welcome to come out for a spin in mine.
Monkfish are now offering a Pedders based solution for 899 fitted iirc. Roger was talking about it before Xmas but was having problems with springs - getting the right ones for our roads. Guess he's got it sorted now. Or as I said speak to Mark at RapidGB re his solution which I believe may be cheaper.
No probs fitting the KWs, I did everything myself except the rear springs which were a bit of a bugger to get off.
I really wouldn't recommend them with their spring set up, I've just had another set of softer springs fitted on the rear, it feels loads better to me, but the guys who fitted them for me still reckon it's nothing like a KW set up should be.

Cheers for the quick response. I'm happy enough to bin the supplied springs. I'm gonna contact Wheels in Motion http://www.wheels-inmotion.co.uk/ and get them to look at it.
