Z3 cutting out

I have a Z3 which has recently started to cut out when turning which is not ideal. This does not appear to be related to the engine temperature and occurs when the car has just been started and also after it has been driven and is warm. However the car does restart eventually.

Having done a bit of research on the net, common problems seem to lie with either the ECU or the oxygen sensor.

Have any other Z3 or BMW owners come across this problem and if so, what is the cause and how is it sorted?

Many years ago my idle control valve went and caused that problem
