Gatwick are where we bought our OH-SO-TROUBLESOME XJ350 from. They have been very very helpful and and great to deal with. Never a problem, always did the upmost to fix any problems. All a good laugh up there aswell. For the 4th quarter 2007, they were voted to have the best customer service by customers over the WHOLE dealership network
If you use them, mention the Stedman's with the troublesome XJ-they should know us!

I spy an opportunity for a rant but I will restrain myself. I have spoken to almost every Jaguar franchise (sales and service depts) in the country over the past month or so and I have been appalled by some and delighted by only one. The best of the bunch by a country mile in terms of helpfulness, cheerfulness and a critical understanding of what the word 'service' means is ...(drum roll)... Stratstone Teesside*. Gatwick Jag were ok and my nearest dealer, Lancaster of Reading, were quite helpful too (but rang me in a panic midway through my last service to say they had locked my keys in the boot and could I please bail them out!). I'm still waiting for a callback from three Jaguar sales offices with whom I left messages which are now up to two weeks old - and I wish them the best of luck in riding out the recession.
* I have no connection with the North East whatsoever but there is something in the water up there.
Those people are the nicest to deal with in the whole country whether buying a loaf of bread or a new Jag.

Thanks for the warning. I used to think that Mead of Burnham (Slough) were the worst franchise in the country because my car always came back from a service with a new dink or scratch which, of course, they would deny until blue in the face. I think they are now part of the Stratstone group so presumably are better than they were. When Lancaster of Reading collect my car, it reassures me that both drivers walk around it noting any damage (er, that would be none) and discussing its condition with me before driving it away. Maybe that's standard practice with most franchises -- but Mead of Burnham always had to be prompted by me to inspect my car on collection. I guess they thought that no inspection gave them free licence to scratch it.

Funny that, because my rant here was Burnham!http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

blimey! i thought my experience was bad! Update :
Jag went in for a MOT last friday @ Guy Salmon, bad news was it failed on a NSF upper balljoint. it was very worn apparently. some adviseries on a couple of front bushes but nothing to worry about yet. anyway the jag warranty (MOT part) came good and picked up the costs. Couldn't comment on how much it would cost to get a upper ball joint replaced (£250?), main thing is that it was covered. it did take alittle while for the warranty company to ok the work but the dealer was pretty certain it wouldn't be a problem. car came back nice and clean from the failed mot
work was carried out yesterday, no problems at all. car came back nice and clean again
thumbs up for Guy Salmon at gatwick
