Hi there

How is the LED and button on top of the console door knob supposed to work.

Mine doesn't seem to do a lot.

With the ignition off if you press the button down it locks the doors.

With the ignition on if you press the button down it locks the doors and the LED lights up.

For my '99 Chim, if you push the button when the doors are closed then that should engage the door locks and light the green LED. The door buttons on the wing mirrors should now not open the doors, but you can still open them from the inside as usual.

For me, if you press the door lock button when the doors are open, you can hear the lock solenoids clunk, but obviously not lock the door.

If the ignition is on, as above.

I managed to lock myself out the other day, with the engine running. Not sure how I did it, but I think I may have put my elbow on the door lock button after opening the door but before getting out of the car, and then when I shut the door the lock engaged. Does it work like this?

Hmmm......

Mine don't do any of that. No locks, no light, nowt!! Need to investigate further. Alarm system has been changed out for a Cobra system at some time or other, wonder if that has anything to do with it??
Everything works from outside, or from the keyfob etc. Just nowt from the inside.

I did exactly the same the day after I bought the car - I locked the car from the inside and went for a drive, got back - car still running, got out to open the garage, the door closed and I was locked out. I felt a right ****!!

In my case I locked myself out while opening a farm gate 200 miles from home, thus blocking the track... A bit worrying, until I realised what to do.

I did exactly the same when i 1st got the car, the spare fob won't open the doors when the engines running...
At this time i didn't know about the secret method of getting in either, i was not happy!

Will be investing in the remote boot release & making sure its wired so that it will still open the boot when the cars running

"Hi there

I used to wonder the exact same thing until I change the battery in the fob, now the light is off when driving and flashing when doors are locked. Previously the light flashed continously. The manual tells you what the status is according to how many times it flashes.

Hence 16 flashes per 6 seconds means " Panic alarm "
4 flashes per 6 seconds means " Internal senor "
2 flashes per 6 seconds means " Door trigger "

No flashing, you should be driving the car or the key set on aux.

+1

Exactly the same, got out to open garage, spare fob wouldn't work - probably because engine was running, had to break in.
