Why is it some of the best threads get closed when a moderator decides they no longer like the direction a few posts are going?

Its surely a job of a moderator to moderate, not simply shut threads down?

Do you have a specific thread in mind?

What may be the best threads to you and me can be offensive to others and can get quite out of hand and it is easier to close a thread rather than having to spend 24/7 keeping an eye on it. Plus what is easier, close one thread or have to warn more than one person and all the hassle that can cause?

Generally closing threads is the last resort...normally for what ever reasons a thread reply will be removed if seen unsuitable or a Mod will ask for the thread to get back on topic before closing.
