Does anyone have a definative list of essential tasks during a service. I am wondering what you get for your hard earned off the well known garages that look after our cars.
personally i go off the list detailed in the build manual.got a copy of the list that plans work to once and couldnt really draw a sensible comparision from it to what the factory had put in the US manual so opted to go with whats in the manual as my base line.
I fear you may be right.
My local specialist says he charges Ford prices for Ford parts regardless of what it is fitted to and so far the bills have been more than reasonable.
They had one customer in who had paid £2,250 for a service, two new tyres and a MOT. They said they had added it up if they did the work and struggled to get it to £700. The guy was needless to say pretty peed off.
Find someone you trust and stick with them.
Main dealers are fine for access to diagnostic stuff, but even then they seem hopeless with the MBE ECU diags.

Indeed, I have had bills of between £1000 to £2900 come service time, later find that some of the undertray screws siezed in, so thay havent even removed that during the service!!
Also saying things need replacing when they are 100% ok.
Forgeting to replace heat shields, repairs that fail on the journey home.
Now use someone I trust who doesnt take the p*ss and charges a reasonable rate for a good job.
If I was buying a noble now, I would buy on condition not service history!!

Who do you use Alex for servicing?
My car needs a service, and the quotes I've had are approx £700. Not sure if this includes Oil etc, or if this is on top of basic service charge.
Also, is it cheaper or indeed possible to supply your own consumables at a service to avoid garage markup up on the prices?
thanks
