not mine, nor do i even know the seller.. but i looked for one of these for a long time. so many V8s masquerading as pluses, this from the photos shows all the signs of being the real deal.
A real piece of Audi history, and for me the first real RS car, built by quattro gmbh as a fitting end to the C4 chassis. RS2 power to weight ratio, without the lag!
suggest anyone reads here first. www.s6plus.de
Will make a great car for someone...

the s6 plus is the AHK engine and was only ever 326bhp. have seen slightly different figures quoted based on where it was sold. And like all all the RS's was only made for a limited run from June 96 - july 97 and thats it!
There are S6 V8's which were 200 and oatcake bhp...
.. i still want it, lottery ticket here we come.

dont mean to start a debate but... the s6PLUS was only a V8 on the AHK engine. this was a quattro gmbh car.
S6 V8 (290bhp) running the ACE engine on the C4 platform, which is rare as well. but was an Audi car.
S4 V8 (actually closer to the old 100) ran another V8 the ABH with 280bhp
There was also the urS6 and urS4 which used the AAN engine from the 5pot turbo. neither of these were pluses.
As for UK registered models, i was lead to believe from speaking to Audi there were none imported, i spent a few months trying to source one in the UK and shifted attention to the continent. But i would love to be stood corrected, as that will then give me some hope. The Audi Owners Club have only ever heard of one in the UK, @plotless the attached link isn't your old car is it?
So the s6plus (as pictured), is a rare car, and was only ever a AHK 326bhp. I have seen other early V8s badged as pluses but are not. Visually the s6plus had black anodized trim all round. sat lower, had larger brembo brakes... think how may B3/4 coupes you see adorned with S2 badges that are not.

I know heaps, and i mean heaps for 5 pot owners of urS6's, S4's, S2's, RS2's... not one in all my years have ever seen an S6plus with a 5 pot engine. The s6plus is a quattro gmbh car, you will know thats the RS factory, so it is a different beast from the 5 pot turbo and a differnt beast from the S6 V8 as well... However, part of me wonders if Audi UK badged some cars as S6plus with the 2.2 in the same was the 2.0 golf got the gti badge. The s6plus i am sorry is a V8 and nothing else, its not a spec its a different car. As above the point is was the first quattro gmbh car. going to look through my old mags when i get home, sure i have a write up on the car somewhere...
do you recall the plate on the s6plus you had? i would be interested to see if its still about.
I went through the route of contacting Audi UK, as none of the clubs really knew if there were any about. And i got a no, we did not, but they had seen some in dealerships for servicing.

Its entirely likely that it was an S6 badged as a + as it was right at the end of the C4 run.
Like I say the only differences were cosmetic, normal seats with alcantara blue inserts, anthracite wheels, different gear knob and steering wheel. It could have been a UK Special and not an S6+ as the rest of the world knew it but it was definitely what I said it was.
I dont remember the plate other than it was P reg I may be able to find it out though as it will still be on the database I suspect.
Also you will note in my first post on the subject that I am more than aware that the 4.2 V8 was available in Germany, it wasnt in the UK.

interesting, was your thing a UK spec, ie right hand drive?
i suspect its badged as a plus, perhaps for the UK. The s6plus came with full leather, white dials, externally the black adonised trim is the immediate give away. Slightly more flared arches and slightly lower, avus six spokers, etc. oh xeonons as well, which would idfferenitiate it.
i know what you mean re the RS6 and the RS6+ ie the + got a better ECU map, bigger wheels and i think was dropped a little lower. But the s6plus as per the top ad is a completely different car from 5 pot and indeed the other V8s. Hence the historic importance and me bringing it up to attention as it warrants being owned by someone who will appreciate just what a piece of Audi history it really is.
rarity? 952 s6pluses were made, for context 6000 B5 RS4's were made. So its really very rare. Current RS4 i don't know but i think its 10000+.
its the stepping stone car between the RS2 (porsche help) and the RS4 (cosworth acquisition).
Sorry for the slight rant but i have fancied one of these for years, researched and research, could never find one.. and sods law a mint one appears in the UK months after i buy another car for similar money. After NONE being for sale for the best part of three years

The one I had, the interior was identical to the one here http://www.derplus.com/
With the blue alcantara and white dials and yes it was RHD.
I'll see what I can find out about it, was a long time ago now mind, over 10 years.
I remember there being very few, this one was a demonstrator and we had that one plus maybe 1 or 2 more which were also demonstrators.

plot thickens.. the s6plus quattro gmbh car was LHD only.
I have see that interior on a urS4 avant as well, it does look the business. It was also Nogaro Blue. Will see if i can get some photos from the owner... i have seen a similar interior on a pals ols B5 S4 a cosworth special which was yellow and blue factory. quite... loud!
Not knocking what you had but i am 99% sure it was an S6 badged as a plus. Without gettign too high up the high horse, the s6plus was a different beast altogether. Even still thing you had looked to be a very rare one.
good find on the site by the way, even has some workshop manuals...
eitherway as per the top bitty its still a great car.. but just a little unsung i feel.

There were never any S6 'plus' in the UK, HOWEVER, the last run of UK S6s (1997) had all of the plus features - ie different wheels (not the original Avus), part alcantara interior, etc and importantly, they had the black out chrome trim that the plus had. Not many sold but they do come up from time to time. Misano red was also one of the colour options that had not been available on S6s in the UK prior to the run out spec.
