Just returned from a meeting in Edinburgh and decided to try a longcut home Always fancied trying this route and I must say it's the best fun I've had driving in years biglaugh The route is from Perth to Elgin via Braemar and has some of the most dramatic scenery in Scotland. It takes in 2 of Scotlands ski centres - Glenshee (in the photos) and the Lecht and also passes through the road that you always hear on the news at the first sign of snow as being closed i.e. Cockbridge to Tomintoul - and I can see why! Most entertaining driving and a test of your skills at cornering, braking and for seeing how large your b**&*cks are when going over blind summits. Beware though that the drop off on the top of some will leave your stomach above your head yikes . 116 miles and 3 hours of fun with no speed cameras to worry about as you probably can't reach 60+ in any case unless your items are larger than mine Cheaper than the Nurburgring to get to and you can turn round and do it all again on the way back .............!

Nice Pics. The scenery looks lovely. Nice motor too by the way. I'm liking the colour. You don't see many of them, and the dark wheels look good too. Can't say I'll be getting to Scotland any time soon, but I would love to do that route. There's nothing I know of like that round here.

I drove that road about 5 years ago, and it was probably one of the most memorable drive of my life. Amazing road, no cars for miles, and the view was breathtaking.

I want to go back!!!

Your spot on Mr. Kiwi! I forgot to mention no other cars to spoil the drive apart from plod cop at one junction. I was going slightly skew wiff at the time after one of those blind summits immediately followed by a sharp left .... he didn't bother to follow; probably thought I was having too much fun yes

Wow mine is that colour and now I know how it'd look with dark rims.
Nice combo.

Powder coated or painted?

Very interesting..

Also got an IBM Monaro, and just had a quote for getting the wheels done in Charcoal grey!!

Two things, I need to keep looking as they wanted 300 sheets, (mind you that is with some scuff repairs), second, I need to get the centres done as well.. (sorry, don't like those silver centres on the grey wheels).

plastic undercoat and a can of spray paint will sort the wheel centres - or get them done at same time as your wheels if you don't like the silver. Alternatively buy a set of black centres from Oz.

I did the same road back in '01 but from Elgin - Perth in my Scooby. I'll go the same way as you then when I'm up that way in July. If I remember rightly, it's a bit narrow in places too...loads of space (greenery etc!) either side, just the road is narrow? And it was a bit bumpy in places too? All a long time ago for me!!!

They are the standard 04 cv8 wheels. Just a tad darker.

I saw them when I bought my spare wheels off mark last year. I'm not, sorry to say, a big fan of the splits.
