Hi All,

I am currently trying to decide on an everyday type watch to stop me wearing my IWC Aquatimer Chrono too often. I have seen three watches that I like but all are very different, therefore I would like to gauge opinion of what you guys think of them and this may help in my decision making process. Any other suggestions are welcome but I like the idea of having something that is not too obvious or mainstream. Budget no more than £400.

Here are the three:

1. Ollech & Wajs Flieger Chronograph – Valjoux 7733 -
http://www.chronomaster.co.uk/ollech_&_wajs_ch...
Second watch on the page.

2. AS Automatic Wrist Alarm

Fifth watch down

3. Ollech & Wajs Automatic Chronograph
http://www.rltwatches.co.uk/acatalog/Chronograph.h...
Tenth watch down

Thanks Jules.

I prefer the first one....but I guess that might be similar to your IWC?

I had a similar dilemma a while back, and went for a Victorinox (as posted in my 'watch strap' thread)

I'm a fan of O&W I've had my Defender II for a litte while now and I like it a lot, it's very accurate and the build quality is superb. I've been wearing it daily for the last six months, the only thing that has taken it off my wrist is the Sinn U1 that arrived a few days ago.

I like the first O&W you posted there it has a very clean looking dial for a chrono, I'm personally not too fond of square chronos (Cartier Tank Francaise is the exception). Mine is based on a 7750 and I have no experience with the 7733 - I'd go for the first one out of those three.

Or double your budget and get a damasko? getmecoat

Of those I'd have the first (no surprise there, as I actually have one ... as you know).

My reasons being:

The Schild though interesting is in my opinion ugly, with a bezel that is far too big for the dial and the other O&W, although rather cool in a retro way it just doesn't do much for me.

My only other point is whether you have seen/handled one of the O&W Flieger Chronos? As it is actually not that large, about 38mm ex. crown - which I guess is a lot smaller than your IWC.

don't like the last two they are too retro for my tast - first one is ok for my taste, but not struck on the military band.

The one I would have in that price band (actually cheaper) is one of the Grovana (rolex) style - I say style cos they are much bigger than Rolex so can't actually be classed as a replica. Sapphire Crystal, Swiss movement waterproof - it doesn't get much better.

Thanks for all of the replies.

I am starting edge away from the O&W Military Chrono (no.1) based on what Tertius has said about the size, thinking about it it may be a little too small. I still like the other two but without seeing them in the flesh it is always going to be a risky proposition, the AS watch although ugly is different and rare, but I am not sure if it would be a good everyday watch.

I've had a quick look at the Grovana watches and although they look fine they are not my cup of tea.

Any more suggestions / opinions welcomed.

Jules.

They are all nice. I'd probably go with the first.

Along similar lines I wear this day to day - functional with full Ti case and band

as well as a cheaper brushed steel Sekonda which I've had for years. I've just put in an order for a yellow face black strap Luminox Navy Seals for the rough stuff.
