focus rs parts / life span

Hi guys!! sorry to bother every1 am kinda new to the foum side of piston heads and looking for some help / info on a couple of things here am sure some of you can help me with.
I managed to get myself a focus rs thats just done 55K av just had it sevices, timing belt and pump , gasket 4 new tyres few bits and pices , also asked the mechanic to check the turbo and its seems to be pushing well. Does anyone know of any big things that just goes in them? or things to be looking out for? gear box? turbo life span? Am sure most parts can stand the pressers obvisly it matters on how its been drivin in the past / by myself but last thing i want if for something to blow as you will no parts are not cheap!

Best suggestion would be to register on the RSOC forum and have a look through the Focus RS section as that will answer all your questions, plus the guys on that forum are very knowledgable when it comes to the car

Good choice of car and welcome to Pistonheads, Mines a 53 on 65k now. Had it a couple of years now in the time ive owned it had a few issues but then it does get a bit of a hard time and most are just wear and tear. Some parts are expensive but most of what ive done has come from Ford or are uprated alternatives. Mod's i have done are a de-cat pipe, k&n gen 2 induction kit and a Dreamscience remap which totally transformed the car.
Oe= origanal equipment F= Factor / uprated parts
F.Front pads and discs at 42k (Fronts due again done 21k on the ferodo ds2500's, oe ones way overpriced)
OE. Steering rack tie rod at 42k (hit pothole at high speed turning it banana shaped, thought that would cost me a lot more than £25!)
OE. Clutch and hydraulic unit at 46k
OE. gearbox rebuild (3rd gear syncromesh died) at 52k done foc by Ford outside warranty goodwill repair
OE. Nearside rear wheel bearing at 52k
OE. Front shocks at 55k (nearside one knocking)
F. Exhaust flexi pipe at 60k
F. Chargecooler pump at 62k (no sign of failure so need to keep an eye on this one)
OE. Rear coil springs at 64k (nearside snapped)
Front tyres last about 15k rears 25ish i have Michelin ps2's expensive but worth it
I have also replaced the chargecooler mountings and uprated the rear stabiliser gearbox mounting which stopped it knocking.
The only other thing ive done is change the wiper stalk for one from a st170 which gives you intermittent wiper adjustment.
Car serviced every 5k with plugs as have heard a few horror stories of plug failure causing major engine damage, although only on ones that have been remapped.
It may look like a big list but dont panic it looks worse than it is ,i work in a garage (so am very fussy) and apart from the gearbox that was done at Fords (and messed right up oil leak bolts left loose etc) all the work ive done myself, its an easy car to work on and if your that way inclined you can save a fortune on labour costs.
All in all its a fantastic car and i really am not looking forward to the day it will have to go. I was toying with the idea of replacing it but what with?????

Needs 3rd set of front tyres now, brakes need doing and steering rack making a noise which needs to be identified.
Clutch replaced at 40k, which is what they say the average life span should be (so I heard).
Other than that, all I have needed in 2 years is a service and MOT (I don't do many miles though)
