Peugeot: RC Z Will Enter Production
Peugeot promises to stay true to RC Z concept
Peugeot has announced that its RC Z Concept will definitely be going into full production.
The final production model will be unveiled at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show and will then go on sale in the spring of 2010.
Peugeot says that the appearance of the production version will stay true to the concept and it will be a step forward for the company in terms of quality.
The RC Z has been dubbed Peugeot’s answer to the Audi TT and will be a standalone model that will borrow little from existing products, said the company.

Someone tell me it's going to be a rear driver?
That was my first thought. My second thought was that it won't be because the likes of Peugeot are too fixated on making subtle badge-related stabs at the likes of BMW to realise what the actual point is.Frimley111R said:
For the UK I think the combination of stiff competition and Peugeot's poor reputation generallly will mean this won't sell well here unless it is priced very competitively.
I'm sure it will sell well... There's no shortage of very gullible women who think they know something about cars. This will struggle I reckon.
Target-market Coupe customers tend to be into 'style and statement' and are willing to pay for the 'right' badge.
Modern Peugeot customers want low priced, warranteed sensible transport on a good APR deal.
No way are they going to steal Audi TT sales.
Might trade up a few 206 customers though...

If they do put a big engine in i hope its not a limp wristed as Audi's 3.2 V6 that gets it's backside handed to it every time a 2.0 turbo TT pulls up.
If it is light a 1.6 turbo could be quite fun, good on fuel, cheap to insure could be a nice little niche'...
These cars are more about looking good whilst going reasonably quickly.
big motors and big power = big money and a fat bottom!
Light and cheap is that not what everyone wants??

+1but given Peugeots recent trend towards heavier cars I fear this car will be a let down, I hope I'm wrong. If its light then a little 1.6 turbo and razor sharp handling could make it a pleasant surprise. But the corporate front end does not work on a coupe.
Obviously the corporate nose is enough to ruin any car. But let’s put that aside for the moment.
If you ignore the foolish idea that this will compete with the TT, I think it’s a good thing. Think of it as Peugeot’s answer to the Scirocco; No road racer, but hotter and cooler than the family hatch.
It will obviously appeal to the Essex hair dressers, but that never stopped the MX-5 being a good car.

Is this a development of the RC Spades(diesel) and Diamond(petrol) (I think that's what they were called) concepts which Peugeot showed years ago, I thought they looked really good
I also think Richard Burns briefly drove one on Top Gear.

The car is a design mess, kind of like a collarge of supermodels and when you look at the Pug TT, it's reminds me of looking at Heather Mills walking out of court with all my money.
The B pillar loop doesn't go anywhere, the wheels look like they came from 1990's Halfords they are so small and the nose is so long that it must have been stolen off Jimmy Nail.
And in 2010 when the car is available it will be so out of date that even Jimmy or Heather wouldn't consider one to boost their image.
