Next day postal delivery

I posted a card 1st class that will make the 6pm collection here and it's to someone 20 miles away in teh same postal prefix. Is it likely to make their doormat by the morning?

Doubt it. The only way your guaranteed next day delivery would be by Special Delivery

in practice? maybe by saturday if around here is anything to go by.

Similar situation sending mail to the local council HQ took 2 weeks. I know someone in the post room who was looking out for and it was sent all over South Wales although I put the correct address on it.

I send several quotes out each day, they usually get to the customer next day, not that they need to anyway. I don't see what the big deal is, I just bung them in the post tray, secretary pops them in the post box on the way home and the jobs done.

99.99% of the time the PO is just fine.

It's just the same in my dealings with the DVLA, parcel carriers, utility companies, phone companies, Indian call centres, insurance companies, on-line shopping, pay-pal, etc etc etc. From what I read on PH though, an awfull lot of you must be doing something very wrong!

What it is that those who do it right don't say so every time they do it right! However those that do it wronng do say so every time!

i agree with the above, unless you are daft enough to use parcel force - in which case best get an account with TNT!

Bit of a rant really; but we are expecting an item that will need to be signed for. So the firm that is named after a common expolosve tried to deliver it last Wednesday. Because the delivery driver was mind-numbingly stupid he didnt think to look through the open garden gate to the back garden where I was working in sight of the gate or even ponder why the garage at the front of the house was open - no, he just stuck a card thru the dor saying he'd try to deliver by 5:30 the following day. As it happens I was out Thursday and Friday during the day - working - d'uh!. The soppy card he put thru the door on those days had no phone number so no way of contacting them. Finally, yesterday he tried to deliver it next door and left a card there, saying it would be returned to sender. Sender happens to be overseas. Brilliant (!)
