A little advice please

Hey guys, its time for a what bike thread!
I'm considering chopping in the faithful GSX-f 600 for something a little more wheely prone and friendly at town speeds. I'm thinking big singles from KTM, CCM, etc. but really don't know much about them, apart from the fact they've got low down grunt and that is what I'm looking for, rather than a revvy 4 which pushes me into dangerous speeds, officer.
Anyone on here got any suggestions, any KTM'ers that can recommend particular models etc. I've got a budget of about £2000, yep, I'm poor.
