Over the last couple of years we've grown from a small to a medium sized company, we've currently got about 150 staff. As such, internal emails are becoming a pain so I'm going to beef up our internal intranet (to communicate social events and other non-urgent stuff) and I intend to remove a lot of groups from Outlook. Next week I'm meeting a chap that will do the design work for me, and I'd like to get the design right on first or second draft. So my question is for what sort of things would be good to go on a company-wide intranet? I'm thnking:

1) A monthly note from a Director;
2) Social events;
3) Buy / sell / give forum;
4) The equivalent of the Sean Connery Thread ("T-break" or something);
5) Company policies and structure;

Any other ideas?

I know a man who consults on intranet content and leveraging the investment.

Has done intranet work at various multi-nationals.

Can put you in touch if you like.
