I have just purchased a second small industrial unit that I am using for storage. I have a larger unit from which I operate my business, on which I pay nearly £1000/month in rates. I applied for small business relief on the new small unit and it was granted. Seven days later I get a letter telling me it had been withdrawn due to the size of my main unit.

I would like to know if this should be the case and if anything can be done to still receive the relief for the small unit, afterall why should it be withdrawn just because I have a larger unit that I already pay rates for? It is a few miles from the main premesis and under a different council, would this make a difference. I should point out both units were purchased in my name only.

It just seems like another rule to get more money out of companies to me.
